365 Days of Dylan, Day 13: 32-20 Blues.

Seems like with almost each entry I'm writing about a cover of a Dylan song. Well, Dylan liked to cover too, espeically traditional country, blues and folk songs.

His version of this Robert Johnson classic is from Tell Tale Signs: The Bootleg Series Volume 8.

Also, check out covers of 32-20 Blues by by Gov't Mule (featuring Sonny Landreth) and Eric Claption.

But it just sounds and feels to me like Dylan was adhering more closely to the spirit of the original. What do you think?

Cheers and Farewell to Lonnie Mack the "Wham!" Master of Rock and Roll Guitar

First Prince, now Lonnie Mack. Maybe the two don't equate, but Lonnie Mack was a rock guitar pioneer in his own right. Saw him live in 1987 in a hockey rink at Ohio University. May as well have been an Arkansas roadhouse. With his Gibson Flying V he put the Wham! in rock and roll. Rest in peace Mr. Mack. Read the Alligator Records press release.

Absolutely one of my top live music highlights of 2015, seeing the amazing Christone "Kingfish" Ingram launch the inaugural Pilgrimage Fest with a sizzling set of electric blues. It may have been Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in a Franklin, Tennessee horse farm field, but for those of us in the crowd, it felt like 2 a.m. in a southside Chicago blues club.
